A Brief History:  From the beginning, we wanted a no clean tack flux that would stay local to the area being targeted for reflow during either prototyping or rework and still have all of the fluxing properties that we felt were critical for successful board work.

High Volume Fluxing Agents Not Well Suited for the Bench: Most of the fluxes marketed today have a more liquid consistency because they are formulated specifically for high-volume production work where the entire board is washed or brushed with flux prior to reflow. While such liquid fluxes are ideal for the general applications in high-volume processes, they are problematic for benchtop electronic work where most soldering tasks are localized, that is the technician is targeting only a single component for removal and/or replacement. The liquid nature of most production fluxes makes it difficult for one to control in localized prototyping and rework applications because such fluxes tend to spread and run all over the rest of the board where flux is not needed or wanted, typically resulting in a requirement for re-cleaning the entire PCB assembly.

To the contrary, our Zephlux™ No-Clean Rework Flux, with its honey consistency and the attribute towards "staying put" during localized prototyping and rework, makes any additional cosmetic cleaning afterwards easier, more controllable.  And the Rework Flux is the flux recommended for use with the popular Zephyrtronics Bench Systems and  our LOWMELT® DeSolder during SMT component removal and BGA pad redressing.
