Video: BGA DeSoldering & Removal Demonstration With NASA Commentary:  This short, but superb video demonstrates how easy it is to de-solder and remove any Ball Grid Array device in less than 5 minutes and introduces the ZT-7000 Comprehensive BGA, SMD, QFN Hot Air Benchtop System. Thermal profiling is taught including ramping, preheating, soaking and final reflow and removal of a BGA, QFN, CSP or any SMT device. The demonstration includes board prep before rework including fluxing, aligning, the desoldering process and cleaning the PCB after chip removal.

The video also touches on quality inspection of the PCB after rework. The viewer witnesses the BGA's solder reflow as it actually lifts off the PCB!  Additional photographs and observations from NASA are included in this helpful video. Video: SMD Placement & Soldering With a Hot Air Pencil & Solder Paste. This short video familiarizes the viewer with an actual placing and soldering of an SMD device using a ZT-2 Hot AirPencil and Solder Paste. (Note: This video shows the traditional 63/37 solder paste, but the RoHS lead-free alloys also work just as well. The viewer will see the use of hot plates, infrared (IR) preheating, industrial ovens and the more popular bottom-side forced convection (AirBaths™) along with charts and graphs that showcase the distinctions between these methods.
